A woman and her daughter live for years with the corpse of a man at home

The Mossos d'Esquadra found the body of a man inside a house in Cabrera d'Anoia this Tuesday, where his wife and daughter resided. According to both family members, they had been living with the body inside the home for approximately two years, and they had not left the house since the Covid pandemic.

The police received a report this Wednesday from neighbors in the Can Formiga urban development in Cabrera, where the house in question is located. They alerted that they had not heard from or seen the family for some time, but could hear movement in the house. Upon arriving and gaining access, the Mossos found the lifeless body of a 75-year-old man, apparently with no signs of foul play. As ARA has learned, there was a large accumulation of objects inside the house and dirt had accumulated in the surroundings.

Police sources indicated that, during the inspection of the body and the scene, no evidence was observed that the man had died violently, which is why they point to a death by natural causes. Yesterday, the body was removed and transferred to the institute of legal medicine in Barcelona.

The two residents of the home, mother and daughter, have been transferred to a healthcare center to receive medical and social attention and have not been detained. The police have opened an investigation to clarify the facts, waiting for the autopsy to determine the cause of death and the approximate date of death. Based on this data, it will also be possible to determine the minimum number of years that the mother and daughter have lived in the same house with the corpse.
