The fire burning between Amer and Susqueda, in a difficult-to-access area, has been stabilized.
There are three active fires that are currently burning at low intensity, according to the Fire Department.
BarcelonaThe forest fire that started this Tuesday between Amer and Susqueda (Girona), in a difficult-to-access area above the Torrent de Palou, has now been stabilized. 15 firefighter crews continue working to completely extinguish the blaze, which was worrying because it had three active sources.
The alert was received this Tuesday evening, a few minutes after 8:30. 19 firefighter crews were dispatched to the scene, but had difficulty reaching the flames due to the difficult terrain in the area.
The mayor of Amer, Maria Rosa Vila, explained in statements to Catalunya Ràdio that the time at which the fire broke out did not allow for helicopters to take off. According to the Generalitat Fire Department, firefighters are working with hand tools to extinguish an area of chestnut and pine trees, led by units from the special GRAF team. Environmental conditions are favorable due to the low wind intensity. Initial assessments at 11:15 a.m. indicated that the area affected by each of the fire's outbreaks is less than one hectare.
The mayor also noted that just four years ago there had already been a fire in the same area.
