Nine injured when a tree fell on a porch where a group of minors and their supervisors were eating

BarcelonaAt least nine people were injured by the fall of a tree in Batet de la Serra, in the municipality of Olot. According to the Mossos d'Esquadra, the tree fell on the porch of a kind of haystack shed of a farmhouse. A group consisting of six monitors and sixteen children between 9 and 11 years old had asked for permission to stop for lunch while they were on a route.
Initial information indicates that one adult is in serious condition, who would be a monitor and has been transferred to Trueta Hospital in Girona. According to the Catalan Emergency Medical System (SEM), there are also eight affected minors: one is in less serious condition and seven are slightly injured. All minors have been transferred to Olot Hospital.
Initial police investigations suggest that the tree fell on the roof as a result of the wind. Emergency teams, in coordination with municipal authorities, have set up a space for families to collect the minors who were not injured.
Emergency teams received the alert at 2:59 PM. Four units of the Firefighters, five ambulances from the SEM, a joint team, a medicalized helicopter, and the team of psychologists have been dispatched to the scene.
