Barcelona wants new apartments to be required to have smoke detectors

Barcelona plans to make smoke detectors mandatory in new construction homes starting in 2027. The mayor, Jaume Collboni, has explained that they will also be installed in the 12,000 public housing units the city already has, in addition to issuing a general recommendation to those who do not have one to install it.
