ERC leader Oriol Junqueras has asked the Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, this Monday to be "quick and effective" in "resolving" the migratory crisis in Ceuta. And he has set clear limitations on reception. In an interview on Catalunya Ràdio, he warned that "neither Catalonia nor anyone can host infinitely," with regard to the underage migrants who have arrived in the Spanish enclave in North Africa. The Republican has emphasized Catalonia's willingness to help, although there are "limits" such as the executive, which he has harshly criticized, fulfilling and "monitoring the borders."

Catalanism had bet it all on a referendum that was a double-edged sword and also served to measure its political impact. The playing field was the naming of the department – equivalent to a province – to try to abandon the Jacobin name of Pyrénées-Orientales from the French Revolution and reclaim the stolen Catalan identity, at least in the nomenclature, with the name Pyrénées Catalanes. What is the degree of connection to Catalanism of a population in which 35% say they can speak Catalan, but as a habitual language it drops to 5%? Well, relative, and the Catalanist option lost by 2,000 votes compared to the Pyrénées-Orientales option, which will remain as the official name. With 18,025 votes, the Jacobin path won (47.21% of the votes), above the 16,092 for the Catalanist option (42.15%) and the 4,061 for the third option of Pyrénées Méditerranée (10.64%), according to departmental data.

"From the Government we condemn the use of this violence, in light of the images we have all seen, of the aggression against this young man," stated the executive's spokesperson, Sílvia Paneque, at the press conference following the executive council meeting. Thus, Salvador Illa's government has regretted this police action and has emphasized the need for it to be investigated. In parallel, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, defended this Tuesday that the internal ex officio investigation into the National Police is what "is appropriate" and that the corps "is the first interested party in analyzing and excluding any action that implies a minimum deviation from proportionality" in the use of force.

The republican leader reviewed the reasons for the defeats against Castile and related them to the struggle in recent years with the 'Procés'. Who today opposes the independence aspirations of some Catalans? Is the PSC part of this bloc? Junqueras dodged the questions posed to him in Prada, eventually resorting to a name: "For example, Albert Rivera." Seven years after his resignation and the dismantling of Ciutadans, Junqueras still remembers the orange party and its most representative leader as a symbol of anti-Catalonia, of the internal enemy that hinders progress and makes national liberation difficult.

He replaced Gabriel Cañellas and lasted very little, but the most surprising thing was when, in the midst of the Process, he declared himself an independentist and presided over the Sovereign Assembly of Mallorca, of which he is still a member. From Prada de Conflent, where Soler attended a round table at the Catalan Summer University, he speaks to ARA and warns that "there are no regionalists left in the PP". In his opinion, what is being done by the executive of the popular Marga Prohens would not be regionalism at any time, despite the autochthonous legacy that from the Balearic PP they say they defend.

Soler and Albinyana were the ones who lasted the shortest time in office in each territory (Torra, the second shortest) and all three ended up quarreling with their parties, Junts, the PSPV and the PP, even though their firm independence has been exhibited again this Thursday at the Catalan Summer University in Prada.

Jordi Turull, in fact, goes further and proposes a total "battle" against the "discourse of hate" of the formation led by Sílvia Orriols. He presented this on Wednesday from Prada de Conflent as a recipe for combating the far-right, which also includes a "battle of values" and "ethical" against a party with which he said he wants nothing to do. Despite the words of some former convergent leader like David Madí, who calls for reaching agreements with the radical right – an idea not dismissed by some in the local sphere – Turull was emphatic and warned of the "harmful effects" of the growth of the Catalan and Spanish far-right. "The nation sees itself threatened, but [the threat] always came from outside, for the first time it comes from within with hatred towards the different," he stated.

This Tuesday, at the Catalan University of Summer in Prada, a tribute was paid to the former president of Òmnium, Muriel Casals, ten years after her death. The current president of the entity, Xavier Antich, the president of the Parliament, Josep Rull, and the former president of the Parliament and of the ANC, Carme Forcadell, have performed a kind of "beatification" of Casals' figure and have prescribed her as a remedy to "raise the independence movement," regain unity, and combat "the hatred" of the far-right party Aliança Catalana, led by Sílvia Orriols.

This Saturday was the last day of a vote held since June 22, although the results will not be known until August 28. With the participation data available (10% of the electorate with around 35,000 votes, according to departmental sources consulted, pending the publication of definitive data this Monday) and the positioning of the various actors, is a Catalanist shake-up expected? Will Pyrénées Catalanes win, will Pyrénées-Orientales remain, or will there be the cosmetic change of Pyrénées Méditerranée? This is the unknown after the departmental government rejected País Català because it believed the Council of State would veto it.

However, this is not the case with socialist ministers. In fact, the socialist part of the state government has always staunchly defended the head of state, even against criticisms from the right and far-right regarding certain speeches or actions, taking into account that everything Felipe VI does must be endorsed by the Spanish government. Nevertheless, this week a sudden crisis has emerged between the Spanish government and the Crown that represents a plot twist, following a harsh criticism from a socialist minister like Óscar Puente, one of the main escorts of the Spanish president, Pedro Sánchez, over a recent photograph of the king with the far-right agitator Javier Negre in Colombia, within the framework of the investiture of the new leader, Abelardo de la Espriella.

In 2014, however, she clashed with the socialists and ended up breaking with them because she wanted to defend sovereignty during the full emergence of the "Procés". In 2015, she left politics after having been a non-attached deputy, and since then her life has changed completely. What has she done and what is she doing now? In conversation with ARA, Geli assures that she does not want to return to politics and that she feels very good as coordinator of the Center for Health and Social Studies to promote research transfer, while also being the general director of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Vic – which was launched precisely when Geli stepped down from politics. She continues to live in Sant Gregori, as always – she also lived there when she was a minister – and travels to Vic by car.
