MadridPP and Vox agreement in the Senate to stop the left. Alberto Núñez Feijóo's and Santiago Abascal's parties have agreed on a collaboration in 23 provinces to defeat the PSOE, which has allied with the Broad Front in the upper house. On one hand, the extreme right renounces running in six provinces (Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cadiz, Valencia, Castellon, and the Balearic Islands) while the PP does so in three where it has never obtained representation (Tarragona, Girona, and Gipuzkoa). The Popular Party, in addition, commits to incorporating independent candidates proposed by Vox in the six districts where they will not present their own candidacy. Furthermore, Santiago Abascal's party will present a single candidate in fourteen more provinces (Seville, Huelva, Asturias, Badajoz, Álava, Navarre, Caceres, Huesca, Zaragoza, Alicante, Granada, Cuenca, Pontevedra, and Jaen). This will allow, as the PP has specified, for Vox voters to be able to choose one candidate from Abascal's party and, for the rest, those from the PP.
The secretary general and campaign director of the Popular Party, Miguel Tellado, has celebrated the "understanding" reached with "generosity" and "high-mindedness" with the goal of "protecting the center-right majority in the Senate." According to Tellado, it is an "intelligent collaboration" to "maximize the votes for change in Spain." However, Feijóo's number two has claimed that in this agreement "no one renounces their own party acronyms." From Vox, they have claimed that they are acting out of "responsibility" in the face of "Pedro Sánchez's attempt to assault the institutions."
