Ramoncín's birthday that brought Gabriel Rufián and Emilio Delgado together
In November, the two left-wing leaders met in person, and months later they had lunch together to plan this week's event.
Madrid"I promise you a place in my kingdom. I'll take you out of my house and put you in a can. Because I am the king of fried chicken. If it weren't for the singer of this song, Gabriel Rufián and Emilio Delgado wouldn't know each other. Perhaps they wouldn't have formed a duo. This week at the Galileo Galilei Hall in Madrid And the left wouldn't have the current media debate about how it should present itself in the next Spanish elections, much less with this intensity. The duo of the week in the Spanish capital came together a few months ago at the anniversary of Ramoncín, one of the artists of the Movida Madrileña and a regular reference point for the left in the Spanish capital, who didn't want to do without two VIPs of state politics.
Almost as if by fate, the two left-wing leaders met at a party in Madrid, spoke for a few minutes, and exchanged mobile numbers. In the minds of the Madrid left, Rufián and Delgado already appeared as a tandem, even though they hadn't connected before. At that point, the non-official wing of Más Madrid had already considered organizing an event with Delgado and Rufián, but it hadn't materialized. Someone involved in organizing this week's event, moderated by Sara Santaolalla, explains, as an anecdote, that for months, when they asked who might be interesting to invite to an event with the Más Madrid leader, many already mentioned Rufián's name.
A conversation
Unorthodox and rebellious within their respective parties, this duo has led a sort of parallel life in recent months: they have coincided in several messages during their speeches from the podium of Congress and the Madrid Assembly, displaying a relaxed style and demonstrating a knack for undermining established patterns.
After their initial contact at the singer's birthday party, a couple of months passed before Delgado proposed that Rufián share an event in Madrid. The ERC leader in Congress agreed. "Emilio has been the enthusiasm and the ideas, and Gabriel has been the efficiency," Ramoncín himself said this Wednesday at the entrance to the Galileo Galilei hall, where he went to see what he himself, in a way, had brought about. In fact, he shared the anecdote with some of the attendees.
The event generated a lot of media attention, and dozens of people were left outside unable to get in, but for now, Rufián's political proposal has had almost no traction. Neither his party nor the other left-wing groups look favorably upon a united front province by province to defeat Vox. But he will insist on the idea he considers necessary to shake up the debate: he wants people to talk about it because "he believes in it," says someone close to him.Listen, hear my number. Come, you will give me your soul.", which Ramoncín would sing.
