BarcelonaThe publication of the calling of early elections to the Official State Gazette (BOE) kicked off the pre-campaign this Tuesday. Pedro Sánchez seeks to drag the progressive vote mobilized by the housing crisis and turn around the result predicted by the polls, which give a majority to the right and the far right. Everything will depend, however, on the correlation of forces resulting from the polls on November 29, and much of the attention in the campaign will be on Junts, which already tipped the balance in this last Spanish legislature. A position of calculated balance and equidistance is expected from the Junts members in the campaign, but the spokesperson in Madrid, Miriam Nogueras, has already assured that they will not facilitate a PP and Vox government.
Are they ruling it out? "Absolutely," she replied in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio. "With our votes, the PP and Vox will not govern, I cannot be more explicit," she insisted when asked again about the same issue. She did not, however, clarify whether this means they would once again facilitate a Pedro Sánchez government, whom they have just forced to call elections due to his opposition to the housing decrees. Nogueras has claimed the members of Junts as "the ones in the middle" and has stated: "We will not choose between the two extremes". A position that may be called into question if their votes are decisive once again after November 29th.
The spokesperson limited herself to recalling that after the last Spanish elections they already "prevented" a government of the Spanish right and far-right and that they gave an "opportunity" to Pedro Sánchez that "he has not known how to take advantage of". However, she criticized that, in her view, they are being held responsible for the end of the Spanish legislature and the calling of elections. "We have ended up being the target and the culprits", she lamented.
