BarcelonaA Barcelona court has summoned CF, the former director general of Telecommunications for the Catalan government, to testify next October. It has also charged and summoned another man, Xavier Panadero, who is believed to be an employee of Cesicat, the Catalan government agency that oversees the cybersecurity of the Catalan administration.

The PP spokesperson in the Catalan Parliament, Enric Millo, announced the indictment of CF, who was dismissed nearly a year ago, during a press conference in the Catalan parliament. NOW has had access to the car which confirms the charge for an alleged crime of discovery and disclosure of secrets.

According to Millo, the charges would be for having intercepted emails, which he links to political espionage, and which could entail a crime against privacy or disclosure of secrets. The PP spokesperson believes that the Minister of Business and Employment, Felip Puig, head of the Cesicat (Cesicat), should appear in Parliament to give explanations.

In the ruling, the judge urges the private prosecution to formulate written questions to both Minister Puig, who has already submitted a report to the court, and to the Minister of the Interior, Ramon Espadaler. Both will have to answer in writing and as witnesses.
