BarcelonaThe artist and writer Paula Bonet has reported on Instagram that an intruder has once again broken into her gallery, broken the glass of the door, moved the paintings and stolen a small piece. Bonet directly correlates this with the release of her stalker, the man who has been pursuing and threatening her since 2019 and who has claimed in a trial to suffer from erotomanic disorder. The artist assures that she has already reported the case to the Mossos and that the scientific police have analyzed the evidence in her workshop. The Catalan police have not confirmed the report and claim it is a private matter.

"The person who has been stalking me since 2019 has been released. Exactly ten days later, someone broke the glass of the door of my art gallery," writes the artist. The stalker had been in preventive detention since July because in June 2025 he had already entered the La Madriguera workshop, breaking the door, stealing a necklace and leaving a written message on the blackboard. Security cameras captured him searching through all the rooms.

Paula Bonet has gone through a long judicial process for this case, and has even had to change her address, cancel events, and limit her professional activity to avoid it. The man has spent at least three periods in preventive detention (in 2020, 2021, and 2025) and has broken the restraining order each time. After sending him to prison, in 2023 justice acquitted him because he was not criminally responsible, as he suffered from a mental disorder. For this reason, he was not to go to prison, but rather to undergo psychiatric treatment for a maximum of 3 years and 3 months inpatient and one more year of outpatient treatment. She also prohibited him from approaching within 500 meters of the artist for ten years.

The artist explains that she is publishing this information to guarantee her integrity: "I have been trying to live a normal life for a year because I do not want to give up the happiness that my work, my family, my friends, my dog, and my partner give me. For a year now I have been convincing myself that it is possible and I have been able to paint and write again. For a while I had police escort, but now I have no more security than that of my network of friends, neighbors, acquaintances and that of our eyes," she states.
