Kremlin encourages Trump to completely cut military aid to Ukraine to "encourage Kiev to join the peace process"
Moscow welcomes Washington's announcement that it has frozen support for Zelensky and calls for the lifting of sanctions

MoscowRussia encourages the United States to permanently suspend the military alliance with Ukraine. After the US government announced in the early hours of the morning that stopped supplying weapons to the Ukrainian army, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that if confirmed, "this could encourage Kiev to join the peace process." The Russian government wants Donald Trump's decision to be irreversible and assures that "it would be the best contribution to peace." Peskov also pressures the US government to withdraw sanctions against Russia. He believes that "the normalization of relations" between both countries "should involve the lifting" of these measures. This, following the Reuters report that the US administration is working on a plan for a possible easing of sanctions. The Kremlin spokesman also says he agrees with Trump when he claims that "[the US president] has given Russia nothing but pain," as he himself said on Monday to defend himself against thethe accusations of being aligned with Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile, the Russian president has not spoken out. He has not spoken publicly since last Thursday at an event for FSB spies (formerly the KGB), the day before the discussion between Trump and Zelensky at the White House. Putin's silence is interpreted as a mixture of prudence and the conviction that the wind is blowing in his favour and that, therefore, it is in his interest to let the Ukrainian president wear himself out.
The propagandists want more
Russian war bloggers are also lamenting the US decision to cut military aid to Ukraine, but are not declaring victory. Yuri Podoliaka considers it a "strong blow" to Kiev, although he believes that "it will not immediately affect the front line" because Joe Biden's government has been supplying weapons to the Ukrainian army. The Dva Maiora channel urges the Russian army not to let down its guard because, in its view, "these are just statements by politicians" and "Trump is a nervous person for whom the week has seven Fridays." Finally, one of Putin's closest TV presenters, Vladimir Solovyov, writes: "There may be a way out for Zelensky, but it will be extremely humiliating."
In addition, propagandists insist that the commitment to effectively cut military aid to Ukraine must be demonstrated by shutting down Starlink, the satellite network that provides coverage to the Ukrainian army, owned by Elon Musk. Until it does so, Starxe Eddy says, "this whole suspension of military aid is far from being a decisive factor." In fact, the possibility of the United States stopping supplying intelligence data to the Ukrainian army was also on the table, although according to Starxe Eddy,The EconomistThis collaboration still exists.
The European Union, to the rescue
The Kremlin also expects that this withdrawal of US military aid, even if temporary, could lead to an increase in European aid to Ukraine. On Monday, Dmitry Peskov defined the EU states as "the countries of the war party", in contrast to the supposed peace efforts of Russia and the United States. The Russian government spokesman, however, has not commented on the matter. Emmanuel Macron's proposal to The Figaro to reach an agreement for a one-month truce in Ukraine.
