BarcelonaCarles Porta premieres this Monday the new season of his successful Crims. The true crime returns with eight episodes linked by a common thread: deception. Betrayed trust, false appearances, or poisonous lies are central to the seven new cases – there's a double episode – that will begin to unfold every Monday after the Telenotícies. The first episode is titled The pandemic murder, and its synopsis reads: “A serial killer operates in the streets of Barcelona using any object they find as a weapon. No one knows where he hides. No one knows when he will strike again”. The channel has not provided prior information about which other cases will be covered.

Since its premiere on TV3, Crims has gathered 3.5 million viewers in cumulative audience and the five seasons that have already aired have achieved an average share of 21.8%, while on the 3Cat platform they have already reached 33 million reproductions. All this while on Catalunya Ràdio the audio version already exceeds 16 million reproductions on its own digital platform and approaches 45 million on external platforms such as Spotify or Apple. Crims is produced by True Crime Factory, which works on the content, and Goroka, which is responsible for the technical part.

This is not the only project with Porta's signature on television. Last week it became known that the journalist is also preparing as a producer Veredicto, a judicial series created and written by Eduard Solà (responsible for the award-winning Querer) along with Pol Cortecans (Els sense nom) and Daniel González (Això no és Suècia). Movistar+ will be the one to show this fictional title, based on an original idea by Porta, revolving around a murder trial with several moral facets. Carlos Marqués-Marcet will be in charge of directing the episodes of a title that is still finalizing its cast.

In a much more advanced stage, as only the imminent premiere date remains to be set, Porta has created the series, also fictional, 33 días for Atresplayer, the Atresmedia platform. Porta, inspired by a real case he already covered in Crims, has wanted to reconstruct it with actors, such as Julián Villagrán and José Manuel Poga, who play the two protagonists. In total, there are six half-hour episodes written by Javier Olivares, Jordi Calafí and Xabi Puerta, and directed by Anaïs Pareto, which narrate the spectacular escape of the prisoners known as Brito and Picatoste from Lleida prison, precisely the case with which the first season of Crims debuted. However, to ensure creative freedom and fit the series into fiction, the identities have been changed to distance themselves from the real event and set themselves apart from the true crime that characterizes the bulk of Porta's work. Nausicaa Bonnín, Pau Durà, Marc Rius, Xavi Sáez, Blanca Parés, Alba Pujol and Joan Solé complete the cast.
