BarcelonaUS President Donald Trump has announced he will impose additional tariffs on European allies until they agree to let the United States buy Greenland. In a post on Truth Social, he stated that he will impose new 10% tariffs on February 1 on all goods entering the United States from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Finland. He added that these tariffs could increase to 25% by June 1 if an agreement for the US to purchase Greenland is not reached, Trump maintains.

Despite the forcefulness of the message, in which Trump wrote that "no one will touch that sacred piece of land, especially since the national security of the United States and the world at large is at stake," it remains unclear how these tariffs will be implemented. It should be noted that most goods from the European Union are already subject to a 15% tariff, and the European Community operates as a single bloc when applying tariffs, with no differences between member states.
