This Tuesday, an anonymous art group installed a statue of the US president and the child sex offender on the National Mall, directly across from the Capitol in Washington. The work, titled Best friends forever (Best Friends Forever), will remain in the iconic park in the US capital until Sunday under a permit granted by the National Park Service.
The sculpture, made of foam and resin painted to simulate bronze, includes plaques with ironic inscriptions that allude to thethe alleged proximity between Trump and EpsteinFor example, one mentions "the enduring bond" between the two. The accusations about Trump have rekindled controversy on social media. The White House, for its part, called the performance a "political provocation" and noted that Trump "expelled Epstein" from his club "years ago," thus denying any relationship between the two. In recent weeks, the president has insisted that he distanced himself from Epstein long before the court cases involving him came to light.
In recent weeks, the relationship between Trump and Epstein has once again come under scrutiny: in early September, the alleged fifty-year congratulations from the Republican to the sex offender came to light. The congratulations featured a female silhouette framing an imaginary conversation between the two. "We have some things in common, Jeffrey," it read. Months earlier, Trump had actively and passively denied the existence of such correspondence. In fact, he even denounced the Wall Street Journal for claiming to have seen her.
