They denounce the Serbian president's involvement in the 'human safaris' of Sarajevo

A journalist has filed a complaint with the Milan Prosecutor's Office alleging that there is "serious evidence" that Aleksandar Vučić, a volunteer in the Bosnian War, personally participated

BarcelonaThe Milan prosecutor's office opened a criminal investigation last week confirming a rumor that had been circulating in Sarajevo for decades: that groups of tourists traveled to the war-besieged Bosnian capital to shoot at defenseless civilians from the hills surrounding the city. In a macabre human safariHundreds of wealthy and influential Italian personalities paid fees ranging from 80,000 to 100,000 euros to travel alongside Serbian troops and murder unarmed men, women, and children.

Coinciding with the news, which once again placed Sarajevo at the center of international attention and, perhaps, restored some faith in justice in a country where trust in institutions is severely eroded, Croatian investigative journalist Domagoj Margetić has filed another complaint with the same prosecutor who is also handling my case: the involvement of the current Serbian president, Aleksandar Vučić, in the murder of Bosnian civilians during the siege of Sarajevo and, specifically, the possibility that he participated in these so-called safaris.

Margetic's accusation rests on a key fact: that during the organization and execution of these macabre activities, Vučić was in the same position from which These war crimes were perpetrated in the Jewish cemetery of SarajevoThus, the complaint concludes that "there is serious evidence that Aleksandar Vučić personally participated in the human safaris and that helped provide logistics and assistance to foreign hunters in the hunt for people at the military position of the Jewish cemetery in Sarajevo."

It is no secret that A young Aleksandar Vučić volunteered for the Serbian paramilitary units during the Bosnian War in 1992 and 1993.He himself has admitted this to the press. But the Croatian journalist's report goes further, providing evidence to demonstrate that the leader was part of the structure that facilitated these crimes. According to the document, Vučić was a member of the SRS volunteer detachment, a paramilitary unit known for war crimes, controlled by the Serbian Radical Party, and under the command of Slavko Aleksić. This detachment was stationed at the Jewish cemetery in Sarajevo, the same site from which the "hunting tourism" was conducted, for several months. All of this information was confirmed by Vučić's political mentor and current ally, Vojislav Šešelj, during his testimony before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Serbia in the proceedings against Radovan Karadžić, accused of genocide and war crimes.
