BarcelonaThe Israeli army has declared the roads leading to the four food distribution points in the city as "combat zones." Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and called them "forbidden" for Palestinians, the next day that at least 27 Palestinians were killed while trying to collect aid, according to authorities in the Strip.

In a post on social media, the GHF announced that the distribution points will be closed this Wednesday for "updating, organization and efficiency improvement" tasks, without giving details, and has assured that they will reopen on Thursday, while it discusses with the Israeli army how to improve the measures. All this at a time when the UN warns that, after three months of Israeli blockade on the entry of humanitarian aid, Gaza has become "the place in the world where people are hungriest".

Meanwhile, at least 18 more people have been killed by Israeli forces in the past 24 hours, including women and children, in renewed bombings around a school being used as a shelter in the Khan Younis area, in the southern Gaza Strip. A total of 95 dead and 440 wounded were reported in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza authorities.

The at least 18 dead are in addition to the 27 others killed yesterday, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, as they attempted to collect humanitarian aid. This was the third such incident in the eight days of operation of this alternative system to the United Nations implemented by the United States. In total, the Israeli army has killed 102 Palestinians and left 490 wounded in the vicinity of these centers. The Israeli army justified the latest attack by claiming that the hungry people had strayed from the marked routes and that they seemed "suspicious."

New director

Amid the international outcry over the militarization of humanitarian aid, which has been rejected by the UN and the 200 non-governmental organizations working on the ground in Gaza, the United States has announced the appointment of a new director of the GHF. He is Johnnie Moore, evangelical leader and founder of the consulting firm Kairos Company. Moore will replaceex-marine Jake Wood, who resigned from his post last week, admitting that the project was not compatible with humanitarian principles and international law and could not be independent of Israeli interests. Moore has said that UN Secretary-General António Guterres' criticism of the deaths and injuries at the distribution points is "a lie spread by terrorists." In addition to Wood, the Boston Consulting Group, which carried out the preparatory work for the mechanism, also announced on Tuesday that it was withdrawing from the project due to increasing media scrutiny, which could jeopardize the group's funding sources.
