The graphics that prove there is no ceasefire in Gaza

The almost daily Israeli attacks have resulted in 586 deaths, and the army continues to occupy more than half of the territory of the Gaza Strip.

A column of smoke rises in the middle of a devastated Gaza on January 21 of this year.

BarcelonaWhen Donald Trump sealed the ceasefire in Gaza, he proclaimed the advent of a "golden age" for the Middle East, a promise of prosperity and peace that was supposed to transform the regionBut the reality on the ground is quite different: four months after the agreement, there have been only 17 days without Israeli attacks against the civilian population. The army has not only failed to withdraw, but is actually advancing along the "yellow line" that demarcates the territory of the Gaza Strip under Israeli control. Meanwhile, leaders and investors are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of turning Gaza, under Donald Trump's lifetime presidency, into a real estate development hub.

The plan promoted by the US president establishes an area of the Gaza Strip (shown in yellow on the map) where Israel has military control. Once the hostage exchange was completed and the supposed ceasefire was in place, Israeli forces were supposed to withdraw to the international border established in 1967.

Now without hostages, and having made progress on other issues such as the Peace Council that is supposed to govern Gaza, Israel has so far made no move. On the contrary: the yellow line is marked on the ground with concrete blocks and yellow pylons, and the Jewish state has not only not withdrawn, but has even advanced beyond some of these pylons into Gaza and has crossed the theoretical limit of the yellow line set in Trump's plan in several areas of the Strip.

Truce breaches

Israel has also failed to uphold the plan intended to bring peace to Gaza, particularly regarding attacks on the Strip. The Israeli army violated the ceasefire 107 out of the last 124 days. Nearly half of the recorded incidents were bombings and targeted attacks, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. This suggests that these attacks were not the result of a more or less spontaneous conflict in which the Israeli military decided it was necessary to open fire to resolve the situation, but rather that there was minimal planning on the part of Tel Aviv. This situation has so far resulted in the deaths of 586 Palestinians and injuries to 1,558 Gazans.

Less movement of people and humanitarian aid

The agreement between Israel and Hamas also provided for the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, where the level of devastation is extreme and food and medical supplies are scarce. The partial opening of the Rafah passThe crossing at the Egyptian border has been subject to strict controls by Tel Aviv, resulting in only a quarter of the expected number of people being able to cross. As for humanitarian aid, the delivery has fallen short of half of the planned amount, both in terms of trucks and total fuel.
