Donald Trump will meet with European leaders to discuss Ukraine.
The US president is open to imposing new sanctions on Vladimir Putin following the most massive Russian attack since the start of the war.

BarcelonaUS President Donald Trump said Sunday he was open to approving new sanctions on Russia and said he would meet with European leaders in Washington today, Monday, or tomorrow to discuss the situation in Ukraine, after the Kremlin to launch largest attack since war began.
More than 800 drones and missiles hit Ukraine on Sunday, in an attack that for the first time even affected the Ukrainian government headquarters in Kiev. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that Trump approve new sanctions in Russia After that, and when reporters asked the US president if he was willing to do so, Trump responded with a terse: "Yes."
Shortly after, Trump spoke to the press again upon returning from the US Open to New York on Sunday evening, where he explained that several European leaders would be visiting the United States on Monday or Tuesday to discuss how to resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine. He did not specify which leaders, and the White House did not clarify on Sunday. "Certain European leaders will be coming to our country on Monday or Tuesday individually," Trump told reporters, adding that he is "not happy" with the state of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump also said that he would soon speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and insisted again that he is convinced he will find a way out of the conflict. "We are going to resolve the situation between Russia and Ukraine," he said.
The US president already threatened Putin in March with imposing new sanctions on his economy, especially on gas and oil, but so far he has only imposed secondary, i.e., indirect, sanctions, specifically tariffs on India as punishment for buying hydrocarbons from Russia. His predecessor, Joe Biden, on the other hand, did approve a package of sanctions last year.
