Diverted to Saudi Arabia a plane with destination Israel due to an incident between the crew

BarcelonaA plane flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted this Wednesday to Saudi Arabia following a "crew incident," according to sources from Israel's Ministry of Transport confirming to Efe. The Israeli press claims the incident was a stabbing of one pilot by another. The plane, from the company FlyDubai, has already landed at Tabuk airport, a city in the northwest of Saudi Arabia.

As indicated by the Israeli executive citing official reports, Israel's security authorities are handling the incident. The Israeli Channel 12 asserts that a security incident is not ruled out, but adds that one of the pilots is being questioned by Israeli authorities to determine if their intention was to take control of the plane and crash it.

In the flight path from Dubai to Tabuk published by the flight tracking website Flightradar24, it can be seen how, before crossing the border with Jordan, the plane, which was following an east-to-west direction, made a sharp turn to the north and lost flight altitude. From that moment on, the aircraft flew at a lower altitude, following an irregular trajectory, until reaching the border with Jordan, where it turned around, headed south, and then set course again for Tabuk.

In a statement, FlyDubai described the events as an "incident," without detailing the cause, and assured that all passengers are safe and sound. The office of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, informed in a statement that the incident is "under control" and that it is working for the return of Israeli citizens to their country.
