“Gaza is a mirror of the future. A new world is being built, in which the rules of the game have changed. The Gaza genocide has much to do with the global drift toward the law of the strongest, led by the far right,” Cristina Mas, deputy head of International at ARA, stated at a meeting with the newspaper's subscribers this Tuesday. When asked by one of the attendees about the personal cost of working on the ground in conflict zones in the Middle East, she replied: “I accept the personal cost, and it is very small compared to what the citizens of the region suffer. As a journalist, it is my job and my duty to explain the Gaza genocide, and being able to explain it also helps me process it.”

The meeting took place precisely at the moment when Israel announced it was resuming attacks on Gaza, citing Hamas's violation of the ceasefire. Cristina Mas stated that this is further proof that "the plan promoted by Donald Trump is anything but a peace plan."

In this session, Cristina Mas delved deeper into the uncertainties of the conflict. "Who is going to govern Gaza?" she asked aloud. «Neither Israel, nor Hamas, nor the Palestinian Authority has a plan for the day after the war. Israel demands the complete destruction of Hamas before negotiating a permanent truce. Hamas demands the total withdrawal of troops and recognition of the Palestinian right to self-determination. The weakened and delegitimized Palestinian Authority observes from a distance. It will therefore be necessary to continue monitoring this closely.

Cristina Mas has just returned from a two-week trip to the Middle East, during which she reported on numerous overlooked situations. She explained, for example, war fatigue in the Israeli army and society (There are quite a few soldiers who commit suicide and recruits who fail to report for duty.) He was unable to enter Gaza, since Israeli authorities have long prevented independent access for the international press to the Gaza Strip. He was only able to get within 500 meters of the border.

Yes, she has spoken with people from places in the Gaza Strip, where she has stayed on other occasions, who have told her from within about the destruction and annihilation of everything that makes life possible.
