A 21-year-old woman died in Brazil this weekend after being thrown into the void without a rope while practicing bridge jumping. The events, which took place at the Skeleton Bridge, in the state of Sao Paulo, left chilling images that filled social media, where it is seen how three workers throw the young woman down the bridge without anything to hold her.
At the scene, authorities arrested six people related to the organization of the activity. The three workers responsible for the jump have been accused of homicide. The Brazilian Military Police reported the death of the woman, who had decided to go bungee jumping with a private company: the accused do not know why the girl jumped without the rope that was supposed to hold her.
The Skeleton Bridge from which the young woman was thrown is about 40 meters high and is known by extreme sports enthusiasts, especially for this modality of bridge jumping called pendulum jump ("rope jump in English).
The Limeira City Council, the municipality where the events occurred, has also announced that it will file a complaint against the Brazilian federal government for omission: the city highlights that it had made administrative efforts regarding the bridge's safety measures that had not been successful.
