An armed man was shot dead as he tried to enter Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.
US intelligence services say the individual was carrying a shotgun and a fuel canister
BarcelonaThe US Secret Service, responsible for the president's security, reported on Sunday that an armed man was shot and killed after breaching the security perimeter of Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump's resort in Palm Beach, Florida. Although Trump usually spends weekends there, he was at the White House at the time of the incident. His wife, Melania Trump, was at the White House. The man's identity has not been released, but he has been described as a 20-year-old from North Carolina. According to US authorities, the individual was spotted near the north gate of the property with what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can. He was neutralized by Secret Service agents with the support of a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy after illegally entering the resort's security perimeter. The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. US time (7:30 a.m. in Catalonia). The suspect's family reported him missing a few days ago. Investigators believe he left North Carolina heading south, carrying a shotgun. The man crossed through the north gate of Mar-a-Lago as another vehicle was leaving and confronted Secret Service agents, according to service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. The agents shot and killed him.
