The Maiden of the Coast: the sea, the rice and the tacatán
Today I want to recommend a restaurant in my city. Serrat praised its beauty. We're talking about Badalona, of course, where in 1929 they built some wooden cabins for bathers right on the sand—you'll see them, they're beautiful—and years later they built the building. It's a privileged space, where the coastal law has also had an impact, but it's still holding up. Inside there's a magnificent restaurant, The Maid of the Coast, where the food is great both in summer and winter.
There is a terrace that fits the concept Mediterraneanly and a dining room that, if you're lucky enough to be near the window, will have beautiful views of the sea. It's the perfect place for those who love both the sea and air-conditioned spaces, and also, as I said, for those who love the sea in winter. What will we eat at La Donzella de la Costa? Seafood cuisine: rice dishes, such as shellfish, shrimp, or black rice, fresh fish... Well-prepared products.
By the way, if you see a bunch of dark-skinned men playing with a kind of volleyball net, but what they're passing around is a tennis ball, you've seen people playing tacatán. A sport invented in Barceloneta and deeply rooted in Badalona. And if you're interested, there are tables on the terrace right on the sand. If you want to be so close to the beach that you can step right on it, you'll love this place. It's easily accessible by public transport. If you go at dusk, there's free parking on the promenade.
