Barcelona, get pretty It was a campaign that Barcelona City Council launched in 1986 to invite residents to renovate their buildings for the 1992 Olympic Games. The Port Olímpic was one of the new constructions that gave Barcelona residents a new perspective on the Mediterranean, quickly becoming one of the icons of the coast. However, over time, the image of this marina and leisure center was severely damaged. It was for another sporting event, the America's Cup, that Barcelona decided to reclaim the Port Olímpic for the enjoyment of its residents. Beyond the squares, green spaces, viewpoints, and the connection to Nova Icària beach, we like to stroll around the so-called Gastronomic Balcony, located on the Muelle de Gregal, where nine restaurants and three gourmet shops are concentrated. Today we're focusing on Eldelmar - Germans Torres, a project by the Pantea group with Sergio and Javier Torres.

We are greeted by Éric León (head waiter), a New Yorker whose love for a Lleida wine brought him to our house. He presents us with a very tempting menu and gives us all the information we need to make our choice, allowing us to fully understand this delicious dish. The toasted roll with butter and Cantabrian anchovies is the ideal appetizer to start the meal. We continue with the Russian salad with akami pickled wild tuna and omelet eggs; the Balfegó tuna belly with Vietnamese citrus sauce; and the mushroom and Parmesan croquettes. For this first part of the meal, we are accompanied by a bottle of Can Matons 2023 from Sant Fost de Campsentelles.

Now it is Carlos Álvarez (Barcelona native and second in the kitchen) who approaches us to explain the two most stimulating proposals of the Torres brothers: the Moqueca fish and seafood and rice a la llauna. The Moqueca It's a traditional Brazilian dish, prepared with monkfish, clams, and white shrimp. The canned rice with Carril clams and Mediterranean red shrimp is made in two textures, more charred around the edges and creamier in the center. A bottle of Claustro del Abat Miró, a white wine from the Penedès region, served to conclude the main event of this well-performed gastronomic masterpiece. We relied on Carlos's good judgment for dessert: sponge cake with a quenelle of lemon ice cream and a bit of mint to refresh the palate, and a flan with cream that, in Carlos's own words, is "tear-jerking." We can attest to that!

We're in the Barcelona we love, the one that faces the sea, hand in hand with its people, and with a very outstanding gastronomic offering. The Torres brothers have collaborated with the Port Olímpic to bring to life the campaign initiated by Pasqual Maragall, which remains alive in the imagination of many Barcelonans today. Barcelona is beautiful, and Sergio and Javier Torres are part of it: "Eldelmar - Hermans Torres is an experience about the Mediterranean that goes beyond gastronomy because it recovers the Barcelona that faces the sea," Javier tells us. "With Pantea Group, we wanted to bring our cuisine to the general public by offering cuisine with traditional roots in the new Port Olímpic," Sergio concludes.

Eldelmar is grilled fish and seafood, rice dishes, meats, and fine wine by the sea. The Torres brothers' second project in the Catalan capital is open to everyone, every day, at all hours. Barcelona is getting pretty, and we love it.
