BarcelonaThe progressive withdrawal of the tax cut on fuels initiated this August will mean that filling up the tank this summer will be a greater effort for many families going on holiday. Furthermore, the war in Iran continues and, although the price of crude oil has fallen in recent weeks, there is nothing to suggest that the situation will stabilize. Despite Donald Trump's comings and goings to try to reduce the price of oil on the markets through an agreement with Iran, the U-turns that characterize the President of the United States suggest that instability in the Middle East – and, consequently, in the energy markets – will remain. In addition, road trips are gaining popularity this summer.

For all these reasons, fueling your vehicle can lead to significant price differences depending on the petrol station chosen. Through this interactive map of Catalonia created by ARA, users can check which supply points are the most affordable near your location, for both unleaded 95 petrol, unleaded 98 petrol, and diesel.

The differences between the most expensive and the cheapest gas stations are substantial, with prices that can be below 1.5 euros per liter – in the case of unleaded 95 gasoline – and others that can exceed 1.8 euros per liter for the same type of fuel. Considering that savings in some cases can be around 30 cents per liter, the impact on consumers' pockets is significant. A 50-liter tank – the usual capacity of an average car – could be filled with an expense ranging between 75 and 90 euros.

As shown by the interactive map created by ARA, the cheapest gas stations are mainly concentrated in the central and western parts of Catalonia, as well as in the Vallès area closest to Barcelona. Along the coast and also in the Pre-Pyrenean and Pyrenean areas, on the other hand, service stations present higher prices. However, in these same areas, low-cost alternatives also appear that present themselves as an option if the additional travel to the point of sale compensates for the savings obtained.
