Isak Andic's children remember him a year after his death: "He was a close and loving father"
Siblings Jonathan, Judith, and Sarah pay tribute to the founder of Mango at the company headquarters.
BarcelonaThe family of Mango founder Isak Andic paid tribute to the businessman this Friday on the first anniversary of his death in a mountain accident, which falls this Sunday. His three children, Jonathan, Judith, and Sarah, laid flowers this morning at the sculpture by Jaume Plensa at Mango's headquarters in Palau-solità i Plegamans (Vallès Occidental).
In an open letter, the descendants of the creator of the Catalan fashion brand shared their memories. "He arrived in Barcelona as a young man with enormous dreams and a determination that was already surprising. Over time, that dream took shape and gave rise to a company that would become one of the country's major economic drivers and a key player in the fashion industry," they stated. The investigation into his death is still open. And the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) seized the mobile phone of the eldest son, Jonathan Andic, the only person present at the time of the fall. The police are investigating him for these events.
"For us, his family, his greatest legacy is personal. Isak was a close and loving father, a serene, attentive, and wise man. He was someone who truly listened, who celebrated the triumphs of others, and who always found time to be there for those he loved, no matter how demanding they were." Andic's children affirm that his impact "transcended" the business world, as he managed to "elevate the name of Barcelona and project it onto the world stage." "Thanks to his drive, Mango became a bridge between Barcelona and the world's major capitals," they point out.
"A tireless worker"
They also remember their father as "a tireless worker" whose vision was always to bring Mango to the world's major cities. As a result, the company now has nearly 3,000 stores in more than 120 markets. The letter, signed by the three siblings, concludes: "His legacy inspires the future of our family and his business endeavors."
Mango's Chairman and CEO, Toni Ruiz, also wrote a letter to Andic. "This Sunday marks a year since you left us, and even now we struggle to accept that you're not here. Not a single day has gone by that we haven't thought of you: you've been more present than ever, and we've missed you terribly. We're saddened by your absence, but we feel profoundly privileged to have known you.
Nevertheless, Ruiz proudly stated that, despite the tragic circumstances, the company is "fulfilling its strategic plan point by point" and will end the year with double-digit sales growth, "well above the market average." "What could have been a difficult year, we have transformed together into a historic one," the CEO of Mango affirmed. This past year, Mango has opened more than 280 stores. "We're moving forward, for you and for Mango," Ruiz stated in the letter.
