Half of Spanish households own their homes outright.

Almost half of Spanish households, specifically 48.9 percent, owned their homes outright in 2025, while 24.4 percent owned them but were paying a mortgage, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) accessed by Europa Press.
