BarcelonaThe Catalan company Saplex, dedicated to the manufacture of garbage and freezer bags, closed the 2024 financial year with a pre-tax profit of €7.4 million, confirming "the recovery after the crisis of previous years due to the increase in production costs, both for raw materials and energy," according to the statement.

The company achieved a turnover of €87.6 million, 6.4% more than the previous year, maintaining "a sustained increase in sales." Over the last decade, Saplex has implemented an investment plan of more than €47.3 million, adding two new plants to its structure, located in Canovelles. In fact, in 2024 it invested €8 million in the purchase of machinery and a new plant in the Can Castells Industrial Park, in Canovelles (Vallès Oriental).

The new plant has 3,600 square meters and is added to the 4,000 square meter facility that the company acquired in 2020, where eight raw material silos have already been installed to manufacture and produce bags, and which is also used for storage.

Both acquisitions were made with the aim of strengthening the company's production capacity and adapting to the growth in demand experienced in recent years. Saplex's market share in Spain now reaches 54%, "consolidating its leadership," while in Portugal it has already surpassed 18% thanks to the alliance with Mercadona.
