The Spanish government awards Vargas Llosa the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise

The Spanish government has posthumously awarded the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise to the Spanish-Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, who died this Sunday. The Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, offered her condolences to the family and readers at a press conference in Moncloa Palace.
