Júlia Colom wins the first Marc Lloret Award for best song
The recognition is for 'Sa nit i es dia', one of the jewels of the album 'Paradís' by the Majorcan singer
VicSa nit i es dia, by Júlia Colom, is the winner of the first edition of the Marc Lloret Award for best song, which was presented this Friday at the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic. The award, promoted by the band Mishima and the Network of Music Festivals of Catalonia (Xàfec), bears the name of the man who was the keyboardist for the band Mishima, founder of the popArb festival and, for thirteen years, director of the Mercat de Música Viva. The award-winning song is included in the album Paradís (La Castanya, 2025) by the Majorcan singer.
According to the jury, it is "the song that best explains Júlia Colom's artistic determination" and a piece in which "the composition, the sonority, and the interpretation work together to convey a mood and an existential yearning". "There is the lute as a telluric connector and a sonic wrapping that protects a voice that first expresses doubt and finally communicates serenity and triumph with an enviable lexical precision", says the jury formed by David Carabén (from the band Mishima), Eva Freixa (from the Cantilafont festival), Albert Puig (from the Petits Camaleons festival), Joan Rial (director of the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic), Xantal Rodríguez (from the band Remei de Ca la Fresca) and Xavier Cervantes (head of Culture at ARA), with Anna Cerdà (Xàfec Association) as secretary.
The Marc Lloret Award includes five paid live performances: four at Catalan music festivals within the Xàfec network, and a concert with Mishima in December 2026 at Sala Apolo. At one of these concerts, Júlia Colom will receive a unique piece created by Cabosanroque. The award is born with the purpose of honoring Marc Lloret, who passed away on February 2, 2025 ("a great connector" in the words of Carabén), recognizing new quality artistic creation in Catalan, and becoming a platform for talent and for the support of live music. In the first edition of the award, the organization received 150 songs. The call for entries for the second edition will open in March 2027.
