Subaru goes electric with the new Solterra, Uncharted, and E-Outback
The Japanese brand presents three new electric cars that will hit the market in 2026.

Subaru has never been a mass-market brand or one that has ever topped the sales charts. The Japanese brand has always been famous for its all-wheel-drive cars and its history of rally competition, with glorious duels at the end of the last century and legendary drivers like Colin McRae and Spaniard Carlos Sainz. But, little by little, Subaru has lost ground in the European market, although it remains strong in the American and Asian markets.
Subaru's roadmap now involves continuing to grow in an increasingly global market with more competitors, and doing so with a strong commitment to electric models. In fact, it has unveiled three new electric models that will hit the market in 2026, including the new version of the Solterra and the new Uncharted and E-Outback. All three models have in common that they use the same global e-Subaru platform, a platform that maintains the brand's legendary all-wheel-drive layout with improved torque distribution and enables greater off-road capabilities. In addition, the new e-Subaru platform incorporates larger batteries, which improve the vehicles' range.
Solterra
The first new model, the Subaru Solterra, is an evolution of the electric model appeared three years ago, with a new front end and a new central touchscreen. This evolution also incorporates a new engine option with two electric motors (one on each axle) that provide a combined total power of 331 hp and allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km in 5.1 seconds. Its 73.1 kWh battery capacity allows it to achieve a range of over 500 kilometers, according to the brand.
Thanks to technological and mechanical improvements, the new Solterra can tow trailers weighing up to one and a half tons and can charge its batteries from 10% to 80% in just half an hour at a rapid charging station.
Uncharted
The Subaru Uncharted is a completely new car, larger and higher than the Solterra and with a specific suspension called X-Mode Dual that improves its off-road capabilities.
Subaru has announced three engine versions of the new Uncharted, with an initial entry-level version with a motor acting on the front axle and 57.7 kWh batteries that promise a range of 445 kilometers. Above this entry-level model, Subaru has presented an extended-range version (with a gasoline engine that acts as a generator) that allows the range to be extended up to 585 kilometers. Finally, there will be an AWD Dual Motor version with all-wheel drive and two 338 hp motors with 0 acceleration and towing acceleration of one and a half tons, but with a lower range (reduced to 470 kilometers).
New e-Outback
HeOutback It's a familiar name within the Japanese brand that's now a fully electric car. 74.4 kWh capacity.
This new e-Outback will be specifically designed for off-road driving thanks to underbody protection and a ground clearance of 210 mm, combined with a specific torque distribution system called Symmetrical AWD.
Subaru hasn't yet announced prices for the new electric models, but they'll likely range from €39,000 for the entry-level front-wheel-drive versions to €55,000 for the more powerful versions, excluding promotional discounts and institutional aid.
