BarcelonaTemperatures have clearly dropped this Sant Jordi, with a markedly less warm atmosphere and most highs between 20 and 25 °C, far from the over 30 °C reached in Ponent and Ebre in recent days. A decrease caused by the strengthening of cooler maritime wind from the east-northeast, which has been strongly felt on the coast, with gusts that locally exceeded 50 km/h and waves between 1 and 2.5 meters high in some cases. The sun dominated in most regions, but some afternoon showers also recurred in the Pyrenees, the Alt Maresme, and the Montseny area, although less significant and extensive than in previous days. These spring showers will repeat on Friday and the weekend in mountain areas, while in most of the country, sun and calm will continue to dominate. The atmosphere will become warmer again in the coming noons.

Forecast map for this Friday morning.

Friday: sun and afternoon thunderstorms

The sun will once again be the main protagonist this Friday in most regions. Some low clouds or morning fogs will reappear, both on the coast and inland, and in the afternoon irregular showers and thunderstorms will fall again in parts of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, locally with some downpours, hail, or sleet. Furthermore, cloudiness will clearly increase in the Valencian Country, with precipitation gaining ground in the regions of Alicante and Valencia.

Weather forecast map for this Friday afternoon.

The sea breeze will ease and will no longer blow as much from the east and northeast as in recent hours, but will be from the southeast. Minimum temperatures will drop slightly and it will be a little colder in the early hours. Maximum temperatures will rise in inland areas and in the Pyrenees, but the heat will be kept in check, with many values between 21 and 26 °C, locally a little higher in Ponent.

Warmer weekend

Thermometers will rise more this weekend, and midday temperatures will be warmer. Even on Sunday, they could once again brush or locally reach 30 °C in Ponent and the southern interior. Values again above average, but it seems the mercury will not shoot up as much as in previous days.

All this with sunshine in general and new thunderstorms or afternoon showers in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, which locally can once again leave some intense downpours. It is not ruled out that some shower may reach the north of Central Catalonia and the northeastern interior. Precipitation and cloudiness will be retreating from the Valencian Country on Saturday.

Mid next week we could have a transient change of weather, with an increase in instability. In any case, there are still days to go and everything will have to be confirmed, as at the moment there is no clear episode of significant rain.
