Temperatures have risen again, and this Friday was markedly hot, with many highs of 27°C to 33°C. And this Saturday will see a peak of warmth in the interior and south of the country, with a summery atmosphere and above-average temperatures that could rise to 35°C in the West and inland areas of the Ebro and Valencian Regions. On Sunday, a northerly wind will blow in and the mercury will drop slightly, but next week, the bubble of warm air from North Africa will send temperatures even higher, bringing a July atmosphere and suspended dust. All this with calm, sunny weather and few nuances.

Forecast map for this Saturday.

Saturday: peak heat

Temperatures will peak this Saturday in inland and southern Catalonia and the Valencian Community, with a summery and very warm atmosphere for the time of year. Many highs will range between 27°C and 33°C, but towards the west and inland areas of the Ebro and Valencian Region, temperatures will approach 35°C. The thermometer will drop slightly on the Costa Brava and the northern side of the Pyrenees, while the coast will remain below 30°C thanks to the cooler sea breeze, but there will be more muggy conditions and an increase in tropical nights.

As for the sky, the sun will dominate very calmly and with virtually no exceptions. Only a few low clouds may appear in the morning, while some fog banks cannot be ruled out along coastal sections. In the afternoon, light clouds will gather in mountainous areas, but they will be harmless. The odd drop or scattered shower is possible between Ripollès and the interior of Alt Empordà.

Sunday: small changes

The weather will undergo minor changes on Sunday. Some cold air will enter at altitude, and the north wind will strengthen across the Empordà region, with a more disturbed maritime situation in this area. All of this will be enough to lower temperatures by between 1 and 3 degrees at most. It will continue to be warm, and in some places the drop won't be noticeable, but temperatures will no longer reach 35°C. Sunshine will dominate, but afternoon clouds in mountainous areas may bring some local showers, especially in the eastern Pyrenees and nearby areas.

Warm weather next week

Monday—a holiday for many people—will continue to be sunny, and temperatures will rise again, but it will be mainly from Tuesday onward that the peak of the African warm air bubble will arrive, and temperatures will soar. The West African winds and the interior of the Ebro River will be visible midweek.

Tropical nights will also gain ground, with marked muggy conditions along the coast. All this will be relatively calm, with more dust in the air clouding the sky. A few showers, accompanied by mud, are not ruled out midweek.
