Time does not cleanse at the doors of a not-so-cold Chestnut Festival
Temperatures will gradually rise until they peak around All Saints' Day.
The weather front that crossed us this Wednesday brought a lot of cloud cover and scattered, light showers to most of the region. Rainfall was generally light, with many areas receiving between 1 and 5 liters per square meter, and practically no rain at all in the Alt Empordà. In contrast, the Ponent region saw between 5 and 10 liters per square meter, and the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees experienced heavier rainfall, with some areas exceeding 10 or 20 liters per square meter. The 25 liters per square meter accumulated at the 2,500-meter mark in Espot, in the Pallars Sobirà region, was particularly noteworthy. In fact, rain is still expected in many places during the early evening, generally light. This rain will not continue on Thursday, with still quite a few cloudy periods and only the remnants of a few isolated showers. In the coming days, we will continue to be under the influence of Atlantic fronts, with mostly calm weather and little rain in sight, but above all with a clear rise in temperatures, reaching a warm peak on All Saints' Day.
Thursday: more clouds than rain
Cloudy periods will still be very prevalent on Thursday, although they will be interspersed with sunny spells. There will also be fog in the morning, with generally high humidity. Very little rain is expected. A few isolated showers or light rain are possible between Barcelona and Tarragona in the morning. Later in the afternoon, some scattered, localized showers are expected along the coast and pre-coastal areas of Tarragona, as well as the pre-coastal areas of Barcelona. Very little rain is expected overall, while the rest of the country will remain dry. The Tramontana wind will blow only during the early morning hours in the Empordà region, and the Mistral wind in the south. Showers will be more common in the Balearic Islands, especially between the morning and early afternoon. Some showers are also expected around Cap de la Nau and nearby areas of Alicante and southern Valencia.
All this with higher minimum temperatures, and even more moderate cold and cool weather in the early morning. Maximum temperatures will rise in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, remain similar in the rest of Catalonia, and fall in parts of the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community.
Warm peak in sight
Friday and Saturday will be fairly calm, with sunshine combined with passing bands of thin, high clouds and no rain. Southerly winds will push temperatures higher, making it warmer at midday. Temperatures will peak on All Saints' Day (Saturday), with many reaching highs of 21 to 26 °C. Therefore, the night of the Castañada (Chestnut Festival) will be calm and moderately cool. However, a new Atlantic front will bring changes and a further drop in temperatures starting on Sunday. In the following days, we will see temperatures return to normal for this time of year, after the recent temperature rollercoaster.
