These days it will be necessary to do the wardrobe change in a hurry
Temperatures will skyrocket considerably, with fully summery heat
BarcelonaThe afternoon showers this Tuesday have been much more localized and concentrated in the north, with calm and plenty of sun in most of the country. But in recent hours, we have particularly noticed a clear rise in temperatures: 30 °C has already been exceeded in the southern interior. And heat will be the protagonist in the coming days, as the mercury will rise decisively day after day. Between Thursday and the weekend, 30 °C will be reached or exceeded in many parts of the interior, and 35 °C could be reached for the first time this year in Ponent and the Ebro interior.
A suddenly summery atmosphere –with values between 5 and 10 degrees above average– that will force us to change our wardrobe in a hurry. All of this will be the result of the arrival of a mass of warm air that, along with the anticyclone and the powerful solar radiation of this time of year, will guarantee a lot of heat and calm for many days.
Wednesday: more heat
Temperatures will take another step forward this Wednesday, both day and night. We will wake up to less coolness, and by midday the heat will be evident. Many highs of 25 to 30 °C are expected in the pre-coastal areas and inland, but 32 or 33 °C can be reached in Ponent and the Ebro valley. The effect of a still cool sea will cause the mercury to be more restrained on the coast, with maximum values of between 22 and 25 °C at most.
All in all with a lot of calm and sun in general. There will only be some thin decorative clouds, as well as some morning fogs or low clouds that will eventually dissipate. In the afternoon, clouds will grow in mountainous areas, but unlike in recent days, they will practically not leave any rain. Only some local showers can escape in the eastern Pyrenees.
Heat wave in the coming days
Thermometers will continue to rise eagerly throughout the week, and between Thursday and the weekend the atmosphere will be fully summery in most regions. Many highs are expected around 30 °C inland, and locally up to 35 °C in Ponent and inland Ebre. Values that could be perfectly typical of a normal July day. On the other hand, on the coast, it will only reach around 25 °C, due to the regulating effect of the sea water, still cool at this time of year.
Furthermore, the nights will be milder, with possible tropical lows in coastal and southern areas. A situation atypically warm in the middle of May that will last, at least, until the beginning of next week. All this with anticyclonic calm and sunshine in general. Only some coastal fogs may appear due to the thermal contrast between the ambient heat and the coldness of the water, as well as some isolated afternoon showers in the Pyrenees.
