The next weather change will arrive over the weekend
Milder afternoons on Friday and Saturday with fairly calm weather, awaiting a new front on Sunday
BarcelonaThis Wednesday we woke up to bitterly cold weather. Frost has spread across many regions, even reaching some coastal areas. Notable lows included -7°C in Guixers-Valls (Solsonès) and Vielha (Vall d'Aran), -6°C in Cardona and Artés (Bages), and -5°C in the city of Girona. In the higher elevations of the Pyrenees, temperatures dipped below -10°C again at midday. Over the next few days, maximum temperatures will gradually rise, although nights will remain cold. Calm and sunny weather will prevail, but a new active cold front will arrive on Sunday, bringing more snow to the Pyrenees, colder temperatures, and rain to several regions.
Friday: calm and thermal contrast
Sunshine and calm will be the main features of this Friday. It will be a pleasant day to enjoy, although thin bands of high clouds may drift across the sky. There will also be some morning fog or low clouds in the plains and inland valleys, as well as storm clouds in the Pyrenees that, at most, may bring a few weak and isolated showers to the northern slopes. Overall, it will be a calm day, with a northerly wind that will only be light to moderate in the Ebro Valley, the northern Alt Empordà region, and on the Pyrenean peaks.
Winter chill is expected for another night, with frequent frosts, although minimum temperatures will rise in inland areas and especially in the higher elevations of the Pyrenees. Maximum temperatures will also rise, with cooler or milder conditions during the day. Many temperatures will hover around 13°C. and 18°C, lower in mountainous areas. The temperature contrast between day and night will be more pronounced.
A weekend of ups and downs
The last weekend of November will begin with another pleasant and calm Saturday. The morning will be sunny with some thin clouds, but cloud cover will increase from the afternoon onwards, especially in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. However, no precipitation is expected, with slightly higher minimum temperatures and similar maximum temperatures. The southerly wind will temporarily strengthen.
All of this will be the prelude to an active cold front that will cross the region on Sunday and bring significant changes. The last day of the weekend will be marked by widespread snowfall in the Pyrenees, although the snow level will not drop below 1,000 or 1,200 meters. Therefore, it will not snow at such low elevations as in the last two episodes. Showers are also expected in several areas, and temperatures will drop, bringing colder weather.
