The heatwave of yesterday will not have continuity in the coming days
Temperatures will drop from Tuesday, with a slight rebound in instability
BarcelonaThe warm and summery peak we experienced yesterday will not continue, as temperatures will start to drop from today. The center of the anticyclone remains far from our home – located in the Azores – and this will allow a weakened cold front to cross us this Tuesday, which will primarily open the doors to the north wind and cause a drop in the mercury. Thermometers will fully normalize on Wednesday, with very breathable air and cooler nights. The second half of the week will again be warmer and more summery, but with no extremes in sight. All this with a slight temporary increase in instability. Between yesterday afternoon and this morning, some showers have fallen in the north and west of the country, leaving up to 20 l/m² in Molló (Ripollès), between 5 and 10 l/m² in Alt Pirineu, or 5 l/m² in Torres de Segre. Today some will repeat in these areas, especially in the north. Regarding the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Catalonia, rain in principle should not make an appearance at the scheduled events. Only drizzles or some local and fleeting shower can escape in the early morning and morning of Wednesday at any point.
Temperatures rose significantly on Monday, with more marked heat and stuffiness and a fully summery atmosphere. 30°C or more were reached in several points of the pre-littoral and interior. But the Ponent area stands out, where maximums soared to 35°C in municipalities such as the city of Lleida itself or Alcarràs (Segrià). Values that will not be repeated from today.
Tuesday: small change of weather
The passage of a frontal tail will cause some changes in the weather this Tuesday. After yesterday's and last night's showers in the north and west, throughout the day there will be more clouds and showers in parts of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, especially in the western ones. Showers are not ruled out in nearby areas - especially in the Lleida regions - and in the northeast interior. The rest of the territory will be dominated by strong sunshine and calm. The tramuntana will blow all day in Empordà, especially in the morning, when the mistral will also blow in the Ebro region.
All this with minimum temperatures still a bit higher and slightly tropical values in some coastal stretches, especially in densely populated areas due to the heat island effect. But the maximums will already drop, especially inland and in the Pyrenees. The heat will be moderate and less marked than on Monday, although it will continue. The decrease will still be little noticeable near the sea. Many maximums will range between 26°C and 31°C, locally higher in Ponent and the Ebro valley. It will be cooler in mountainous areas.
Normal weather for the time of year mid-week
On Wednesday, temperatures will drop further and normalize for the season. Very comfortable conditions during the day, with many highs between 23°C and 28°C, and generally cool nights, including on the coast. During the early morning and morning, some scattered drizzles or showers will fall anywhere, and in the afternoon they will concentrate in the Pyrenees. Not much overall, with more cloud intervals.
On Thursday, the values will remain similar, while from Friday onwards the mercury will rise again, and the weekend will be summery again with values above average. The weather will be quite calm.
