The anticyclone will begin to weaken from the weekend onwards.
Saturday will be cooler and the first light showers will arrive in some areas, and next week will be busier.
Calm has prevailed these past few hours, with generally bright sunshine, some morning fog and low clouds, and a contrasting temperature between the morning chill and the pleasant midday weather. This pattern will continue into Friday, with all the hallmarks of an anticyclone and temperatures potentially rising a few degrees. However, the weather will begin to change over the weekend. The passage of a weakened front will increase cloud cover overall, bringing some light rain or showers, especially in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. While not widespread, the precipitation will be accompanied by mud, as the amount of dust suspended in the air from North Africa will increase. Temperatures will drop, and next week the anticyclone will weaken further, leading to increased instability and the possibility of more rain and snow.
Friday: absolute calm
The weather will remain very calm this Friday, with generally sunny skies and some morning fog or low clouds in the plains and inland valleys. These will also be present in the northeast and other coastal and pre-coastal areas. As the day progresses, the fog will dissipate, and sunny conditions will prevail overall, though with some scattered wisps of thin clouds. Temperatures will be similar to or slightly higher than usual, with a mild temperature inversion in the morning and at midday. Highs of 17°C to 22°C are expected, with some areas seeing higher temperatures.
First changes this weekend
Over the weekend, a weakened front will cross the region, increasing overall cloud cover, but little rain is expected. Only a few light, scattered showers or drizzles are possible, mainly in the Pyrenees on Saturday. While light, any rain will likely be accompanied by mud. Temperatures will begin to drop and return to normal. These will be the first signs of the anticyclone weakening, and instability will increase next week.
According to current weather maps, a low-pressure system will move between the Iberian Peninsula and North Africa, and depending on its position, it will bring varying amounts of rain to Spain. For now, widespread rain is expected by midweek. As the winds will be from the south, the weather will not be too cold, with a relatively high snow level of around 1,800 meters. This situation remains uncertain and will need to be clarified as it develops.
