Summer does not want to leave: the heat goes overboard on Friday

BarcelonaThe weather has continued to be marked this Thursday by absolute calm and by the thermal contrast between the morning chill and the summer heat in the middle of the day. But pay attention, because this Friday temperatures will peak, with unbridled heat completely out of place for the dates, since the atmosphere will be more typical of the summer dog days than of the beginning of autumn. Maximums could locally reach 38 ºC in the interior of the Ebro, and it is not ruled out that some heat records will be reached, for example, in the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees. The mercury will drop over the weekend, but the atmosphere will remain too warm for the time of year. All this with still sun and anticyclonic calm, waiting for the weather to start changing next week.

Friday: heat peak

Temperatures will be the main protagonists this Friday. They will rise further, both by day and by night, with an especially marked increase in highs in the south and inland. In the middle of the day, the atmosphere will be fully summer-like, of a heatwave, with unbridled and extraordinary heat for being in the first days of autumn.

Many highs of 30 to 35 ºC are expected in general, but in Ponent and the Ebro valley these figures will be exceeded, with values of 35 to 38 ºC. We will see if some heat records end up being broken.

A scenario that will contrast with the cool atmosphere of the early hours. All of this with absolute calm and sun in general. There will only be some low morning clouds on the south coast, as well as some local brushstrokes of high and thin clouds of a decorative nature.

Changes next week

The weather will remain calm over the weekend. The novelty will be that on Sunday afternoon clouds will grow, with a bit more momentum in the Pyrenees, with a risk of some first local showers, especially in the Lleida sector. Over the next few days, some low clouds will repeat in coastal stretches, especially in the morning on the southern coast. In addition, there will be some traces of high, thin clouds.

However, throughout the coming week the anticyclone will gradually leave and will open the doors to an increase in instability and a drop in temperatures. At the beginning of the week, some showers may already fall in coastal and northern stretches, and throughout the days the downpours and storms would increase, especially inland and in mountain areas. A situation that we will have to specify, but that would put an end to this extraordinarily warm environment.
