BarcelonaThe heat is relentless, and we've started the week with once again very warm and muggy conditions for the season. And this Tuesday, we'll see another peak of warmth in the west of the country, with highs that could once again reach or exceed 38°C in the West. These are completely out of character. Toward the coast, there will be little change, with very marked muggy conditions and new tropical nights. In the coming days, temperatures will remain well above average, with an atmosphere more reminiscent of midsummer, a season that officially begins on Saturday. All this with plenty of sunshine and calm air, suspended dust, and only afternoon clouds in mountain areas.

Tuesday: peak heat in Ponent

This Tuesday, we'll be leaving with a very mild atmosphere, followed by another tropical night for much of the coast, as well as some parts of the pre-coast and some inland areas. Locally, it will be more intense in the western region. Unusually unseasonably hot, with many temperatures reaching 30 to 35°C in the rest of the country.

A hot day that will also be marked by sunshine and calm. There will only be a few bands of high, thin clouds in the southern half, and some traces of low coastal clouds are possible in the early hours. In the afternoon, dark clouds will gather in mountainous areas, bringing isolated showers in the eastern Pyrenees and locally heavy showers and thunderstorms inland. Dust will also persist.

Very hot until San Juan too

Temperatures will remain very high throughout the week. On Wednesday, the mercury will drop again in the West, where the extreme temperatures of Tuesday will no longer be repeated. But during the second half of the week, temperatures will rise further, with a very warm and muggy atmosphere coinciding with the official arrival of summer on Saturday. The bubble of very warm air from North Africa that has been with us for many days will strengthen again.

Therefore, we will arrive at the Sant Joan long weekend with an atmosphere more typical of late July, continuing the warm trend we have been experiencing for more than two weeks. There is no clear end in sight to this situation, with sustained atypical heat, and we will have to see what the meteorological balance will be for the whole of June. And all this with no rain in sight.
