A much more breathable start to the week with some showers remaining.
Heat much more controlled and without extremes, with cooler nights and better sleep

BarcelonaThe cold front that crossed this weekend brought showers and heavy thunderstorms in many places, though not everywhere. There were real downpours with some hail and significant accumulations of water, especially in the Girona region, where rainfall exceeded 120 l/m² (at the end of this report you will find data on accumulated rainfall between Saturday and Sunday). Where it rained, temperatures have clearly dropped, and this morning the atmosphere was much more comfortable overall. The clearest example is Barcelona city center, where for the first time in 17 days, scorching lows—above 25°C—were not recorded. The heat was still intense yesterday in Ponent and inland Ebro, where temperatures once again exceeded 38°C. Of note were 39°C in Vinebre and almost 38°C in Aldover. These temperatures will never be repeated again, with much more moderate heat starting today.
Monday and Tuesday: Heat at bay and cooler nights
Monday morning will be generally sunny, except for areas in the northeast and nearby regions, where low clouds may cause the occasional light shower or light rain shower. At Cap de Creus, the north wind will keep the skies clear and the sea choppy, with strong swells.
Starting at midday, scattered showers of generally moderate intensity are expected in the northeast and northern pre-coast, with few occurrences. This is nothing compared to the heavy downpours of recent hours in this area. Late in the day, some intense showers or thunderstorms may occur between the southern central coast and the northern Costa Daurada. The Catalan Meteorological Service has issued a warning for heavy rain.
We're looking forward to a Monday and Tuesday with temperatures dropping and much more moderate and bearable heat, with many highs of 26°C to 31°C, somewhat higher in the south and the west. Inland temperatures will drop to 20 or 15°C. In the Pyrenean valleys, it will be necessary to cover up more at night, because minimum temperatures can in some cases drop below 10°C, also in some valleys
values above average.
