The weather

A long weekend for the Immaculate Conception begins, perfect for taking advantage of

Calm will prevail everywhere and temperatures will rise noticeably, with very mild middays.

BarcelonaThe changeable winter weather of the last few days will come to an abrupt end this long weekend for the Immaculate Conception. Temperatures have already risen today and will continue to climb in the coming days, with very mild afternoons, more moderate cold nights, and values above average for this time of year. The presence of an anticyclone will gradually take hold, bringing us a very pleasant holiday weekend to enjoy, with sunshine, fog, and no rain anywhere. This follows a windy Friday in some areas, with the strongest gust reaching 101 km/h in Portbou (Alt Empordà), as well as lingering showers on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees that will finally dissipate by early Saturday morning.

Saturday: clear rise in mercury

The first of the three holiday days for many will be marked above all by a significant rise in temperatures, both day and night. The cold will be much more moderate in the early hours, and there will be virtually no frost outside the Pyrenees. Maximum temperatures will jump considerably, and the weather will suddenly become very mild at midday, with many highs of 16°C to 21°C, even higher in areas of southern Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands.

It will generally be sunny, with some harmless bands of high, thin clouds, throughout this public holiday Saturday. Some cloud cover will linger in the northern third of the country in the morning, and the lingering showers from the northern slopes of the Pyrenees that may have occurred in the early hours will not return. Morning fog and low clouds are expected in the plains and inland valleys, and the wind will die down completely. A pleasant day to enjoy.

Sunday and Monday of absolute calm

The rest of the long weekend will be marked by stability and absolute calm. Sunshine will dominate both Sunday and the public holiday Monday, with only a few wisps of thin, increasingly scarce clouds. Morning fog and low clouds will return to inland areas, lasting longer periods in the Pla de Lleida region, where it will be cooler. Temperatures will remain very high for this time of year across most of the country, with mild midday temperatures and moderate cold at night. Despite the rising temperatures, the temperature contrast between day and night will be significant. The high-pressure system will remain in place for much of next week, and no changes are expected until at least next weekend.
