Mild Easter Sunday with temperatures near 27 ºC
Last stretch of Holy Week warm in the interior and with some sea fog
BarcelonaAn anticyclonic ridge embraces us and is causing the weather to remain fully spring-like in our territory. On one hand, we have a high-pressure center over the Bay of Biscay and another over the western Mediterranean. All of this causes the wind to be nil or very weak and, furthermore, allows the atmosphere to heat up, especially at midday. Therefore, the last stretch of Holy Week will continue to be stable and with clear skies. Some changes are only expected at the end of next week, with the proximity of a front that could bring showers and a slightly cooler atmosphere.
Easter Sunday without changes and with rising temperatures
Spring day, with a clear sky across the country. We can see some low clouds in front of the Costa Dorada or the Ebro Delta. In the interior of the Ebro or in Central Catalonia, some fog will appear, which will dissipate as the morning progresses. The atmosphere has been cool in the morning, with minimums that have risen. They have hovered around 4 ºC in the Pyrenean valleys and between 6 ºC and 8 ºC in the interior. On the coast, they have not dropped below 11 ºC - in the city of Barcelona - while in other places it has cooled a bit more (7 ºC in Cunit or 6 ºC in Viladecans, in the Agrarian Park). On the Costa Brava, the thermometer has dropped to 4 ºC in Palafrugell. There have been no frosts in the high mountains (thermal inversion has kept the minimum around 3 ºC in La Tosa d'Alp while in Das, in the valley, they have dropped to -1 ºC).
Maximums will rise notably, especially in Poniente and in the interior of the Ebro valley, with a very mild atmosphere in the middle of the day, with many maximums between 20 °C and 24 °C, which, locally, will once again reach 26 °C or 27 ºC in the regions of Poniente and the interior of the Ebro.
During the afternoon, cloudiness will increase in the Pyrenees, where some showers of intensity are not ruled out. In the rest of the territory, only some thin clouds will appear and on the coast, some maritime fog is not ruled out, for example, off the Costa Brava. These advection fogs are common in spring, with warm periods and still cold sea water. The strong contrast between the two air masses generates the formation of fog banks, sometimes compact and persistent.
Radiant and warm Easter Monday
The weather will be very pleasant and we will have radiant sun on Easter Monday, with temperatures that will remind us more of May values than early April. Many highs of 20 °C to 25 °C are expected, but in pre-coastal and inland areas these figures will be exceeded and locally 29 ºC will be approached in Poniente and the Ebro interior. The thermometers will be more restrained on the coast due to the influence of the sea, which is still cold. Maritime fogs will form on the Costa Brava or off the central coast, especially towards sunset. All this with a thermal contrast between day and night. On Wednesday, the thermometer may drop slightly in the Pyrenees due to the proximity of a front that, in principle, will only bring some showers to the Pyrenees. Towards the end of next week, the weather could change with the arrival of a front. We will have to keep an eye on it!
