This year, the Salomon Ultra Pirineu also serves as the meeting point for the social project Enforma Inspira, a project created by Shahid Ashraf. Founded in 2019, Enforma Inspira aims to promote the social integration of young people in care or who have completed their period of care, using sport as a tool to help them expand their social network and continue their personal development. Shahid, who ran his first trail race at the Salomon Pirineu Marathon, returns to the Ultra distance this year in the hopes of closing a personal circle and helping inspire a new generation of young people to follow their dreams.
Núria Picas, ahead of her tenth Ultra Pirineu: "I don't think about results, I want to enjoy every kilometer."
Bagà hosts the sixteenth edition of the race through the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park that changed Picas's career.

BagáThe Salomon Ultra Pirineu will once again transform Bagà into the capital of mountain running for a few days, with the 16th edition of the iconic race through the trails of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park. This year, due to construction work on the Niu de l'Àliga refuge, the routes of the Nit, the Ultra, and the Marató have been slightly modified, without affecting the demands of a race that has seen all the biggest names in the sport compete.
The Salomon Ultra Pirineu will be the highlight of the weekend and will take place on Saturday, October 4th at 5:30 a.m., when 1,300 runners will gather in the Porxada square in Bagà, which has been undergoing construction work and has a new surface, serving as a stage for headlamps to light up the streets of the town center while it's still dark. The marathon will take place on Saturday with 1,300 athletes, and the half marathon will take place on Sunday. Jonathan Albon, Azara García de Salmones, Miguel Heras, Pau Capell, and Claudia Tremps are just some of the most notable names at this event, with Núria Picas standing out among the competition, celebrating her tenth participation in the event that defined her sporting career.
"The Ultra Pirineo is much more than a race: it's my home, it's where I grew up as a runner, and where I've experienced some of the most intense and emotional moments of my career," says the five-time winner. Picas admits that the decision to return was somewhat improvised. "I've taken it day by day, as always, training with enthusiasm and perseverance. I've combined mountain training with road biking and strength sessions, seeking a balance between endurance, power, and recovery. In any case, I'm not thinking about results right now. After the 2022 experience in which I broke the race record, now they've been one of them."
Beyond physical fitness, Picas affirms that winning is no longer an objective. "I want to experience it with passion and respect. I know it's a demanding race, but I also know that the route, the people, and the atmosphere carry you away. I don't think about results or pressure: I want to run intelligently, enjoy every kilometer, and once again feel that connection with the mountains and the people that make the Ultra Pirineo so special. I would like to continue inspiring now. I would like to continue inspiring very good runners, and this is their time," he adds.
As for the Marathon, reigning champion Robert Pkemoi will seek to retain his title for the fourth consecutive time, despite strong competition from runners like Miquel Corbera and Yoel de Paz. In the women's field, Oihana Kortazar, Ainara Urrutia, and Marta Pérez will be some of the favorites. Finally, the half marathon will feature an explosive combination of talent, with runners such as Jan Torrella from Bagan, María Teresa Chica, Killian Allaire, Núria Llansó, Jan Margarit, and Gabriela Lasalle.
