BarcelonaMarc Márquez continues to make history in MotoGP. The rider from Cervera has beaten Pedro Acosta – just as he did on Saturday in the sprint race – at the Hungarian Grand Prix and achieves his 100th victory in motorcycle racing. Márquez took advantage of a five-bike crash in the first corner to close the gap on the leading riders. The Catalan adds another 25 points to his overall standings and climbs to fifth position.

Unexpected start to the Hungarian Grand Prix after the crash of Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martín, Raúl Fernández and Fermín Aldeguer. The top three World Championship leaders – Bezzecchi, Jorge Martín and Di Giannantonio, who was able to continue – have gone down. An opportunity that Marc Márquez did not want to miss and which helped him to win the race ahead of Pedro Acosta and Bagnaia.

With the asphalt temperature very high –around 60°C–, the rider from Cervera and the one from Murcia have offered a beautiful battle with several overtakes. Márquez started from pole position, although Pedro Acosta managed to overtake him in the early laps. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider set the pace with a second over the Catalan, who went from less to more throughout the 26 laps until reaching Acosta's pace.

But Ducati has prevailed again. After several attempts, Márquez managed to overtake the Murcian on the fifteenth lap and, from then on, the race held little mystery. The rider from Cervera pulled away – with a margin of more than two seconds – riding at a great pace (1 minute 38 seconds) which allowed him to secure his first victory of the season in a long race. Until now, Márquez had only won three sprint races. For his part, Pedro Acosta will have to wait to achieve his first MotoGP victory.

Good day for Márquez

Márquez climbs to fifth position overall with 108 points and is 72 behind Bezzecchi. Acosta, the other big beneficiary of the day, remains fourth, but cuts twenty points from the Italian rider, who will remain World Championship leader for two more weeks.
