255 talented students with limited financial resources have been admitted to university thanks to the "la Caixa" Foundation.
The bank's Undergraduate Scholarship program, which seeks to promote equal opportunities in access to university education, offers students a monthly stipend of 750 euros.

29% of university students in Spain need financial support to continue their studies, according to data from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports published in 2024. Since 2021, the "la Caixa" Foundation's Undergraduate Scholarship program has promoted equal opportunities in access to university education. The program, which combines academic excellence and social equity, has enabled 255 talented young people with limited financial resources to access university in its first five years.
The "la Caixa" Foundation held a meeting with the 50 undergraduate scholarship recipients from the 2023 call, to show support and recognition for these excellent students with limited financial resources who have already completed the first years of their university studies. The event was attended by the president of the "la Caixa" Foundation, Isidre Fainé, along with other executives of the entity.
During the meeting, Fainé emphasized: "With the Undergraduate Scholarship program, we open the doors of the future to talented young people who dream of transforming their lives through university education." He added that at the "la Caixa" Foundation, "we promote equity and equal opportunities because we believe in a society in which the effort and potential of each person shine without barriers." Fainé closed the meeting by sharing with the scholarship recipients the virtues that characterize a leader: "As he described Homer in the Iliad, are: justice and good judgment; wisdom and counsel; sagacity and caution, and courage and action."
The Undergraduate Scholarship program offers students a monthly stipend of 750 euros, which allows them to dedicate themselves fully and full-time to their studies. In addition, scholarship recipients receive initial assistance to purchase computer materials and equipment, additional funds for international stays and transversal skills.
The scholarship includes activities of networking Through in-person and virtual meetings. At the end of the second year of their degree, an in-person meeting takes place in Barcelona, this year during the third week of July. Over the course of four days, the scholarship recipients had the opportunity to share ideas, build relationships, and acquire new knowledge through various activities, cultural visits, and a session with their academic advisors.
