Youth train and bus discounts are now available: how to get them
For the third consecutive year, the State approves the 'Young Summer' program aimed at people between 18 and 30 years old.

BarcelonaYoung people between 18 and 30 years old can now request the code of the Young Summer Travel this summer with discounts of up to 90% on trains and buses. The Spanish government approved the initiative last Tuesday for the third consecutive year, and starting June 18, the website allows you to register to enjoy the discounts.
How do I apply for the discount?
To qualify for discounts, young people must register on the website of Young Summer [here is the link], using the Clave identification system or by entering your personal information. If you meet the program requirements, you will receive a personal, non-transferable code that you must use to purchase discounted train and bus tickets (and Interrail tickets) on the various operators' websites. The registration process must be completed at least 24 hours before making your first purchase, and operators will gradually introduce the option of discounted travel.
Which trips can be taken at a reduced price?
The Spanish government has included six cases within the program Young Summer:
- A 90% discount on regular state-run bus services
- A 90% discount on conventional medium-distance and narrow-gauge network services
- A 50% discount on Avant single titles
- A 50% discount, with a maximum of thirty euros per ticket, for long-distance or high-speed commercial services.
- A 50% discount on the Interrail Global Flexible ticket from ten days to two months, when sold through Renfe.
What months will the plan be operational?
The code that allows you to purchase reduced-price tickets can be used for trips between July 1 and September 30, 2025, inclusive. Who is eligible for the discount?
All young people born in the State—or foreigners with legal residence—between January 1, 1995, and December 31, 2007, inclusive, will be eligible for the bonuses.
How much money will the Spanish government allocate?
The Ministry of Transport will allocate €120 million to cover discounts on single and return tickets for train and bus travel throughout Spain, as well as Interrail travel throughout Europe. Last year alone, 2.3 million people made 5.2 million trips, the Spanish government reported in a statement. According to the ministry, the initiative is "a complete success," as it reduces the use of private vehicles (fewer emissions and fewer accidents) among young people and increases their loyalty to the public transport system.
