Two misogynistic crimes in less than 24 hours
Both are investigated as possible cases of gender-based violence, which would raise the total to 35 since the beginning of the year
Male violence does not stop. In just 24 hours, two male murders have occurred that have set off alarms in Spain. The first at the Llanes barracks, in Asturias, this Wednesday shortly before 1:30 PM, when a Civil Guard agent stationed at the Zamora command shot his ex-partner, with whom he had three children – one 18 years old and two 14-year-old twins. The man, who was seriously injured when the victim's colleagues tried to prevent the assault by making him retreat, also died.
As the same sources explained to Efe, the agent was registered in the VioGén system following domestic abuse complaints. Furthermore, sources close to the investigation indicated that the civil guard had open files for male violence and that, precisely, he had recently received a very serious disciplinary sanction. For this reason, he no longer had his service weapon. According to the same sources, he would have stolen from lockers or snatched a weapon from a colleague to kill his ex-partner.
As for the second male crime, it was committed hours later, after a man allegedly stabbed his partner in a shopping center in Murcia. In this case, the individual fled after the events and the national police are looking for him.
The emergency telephone number 112 received the call at 5:25 PM alerting that a 44-year-old woman had been found dead in the back room of the Carrefour Infante shopping center. The worker who found her alerted the police, who requested medical assistance. However, the doctor who arrived by ambulance could only certify her death.
The two murders are being investigated as possible cases of male violence, which would bring the total to 35 since the beginning of the year; 1,375 since 2003.
