BarcelonaThe Santa Coloma de Farners investigating court number 4 has opened an investigation into the death of former Amer (Selva) councilor Moisès García Milans and his brother. Although they are still awaiting the autopsy report, sources close to the investigation indicate that the leading hypothesis right now is that the former councilor drowned his brother and then committed suicide. Meanwhile, the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) reported that the case was opened for two unnatural deaths.

On Sunday, a person walking through the town cemetery alerted the police that the body of a man had been found inside. They soon learned it was Milans, well-known in Amer for his ties to municipal politics, first with ERC and later with Junts per Amer. However, in recent years, he had worked as an administrator for the Gironès County Council.

The fact that Milans was well-known in the town made it easier for the police to know how much he had a sick and dependent brother, whom he was caring for. With the documentation he had on him, they found his address and, when they arrived, they found that the brother was also dead.

The brother's body showed no signs of violence, which led investigators to initially consider two hypotheses. One, that he had died of natural causes and then the former councilor had committed suicide in the cemetery. And second, that the former councilor had killed his brother and then committed suicide. After the initial investigations, today the second hypothesis is the one that is gaining strength, according to sources close to the investigation.

The same sources indicate that Milans would have drowned his brother, which would explain the lack of signs of violence on his body, although the instructor of the case has not yet received the report from the forensic examiner in charge of the autopsy that must confirm it.
