Accused of abusing a 14-year-old girl

The Bishop of Cádiz and Ceuta is under investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor between 1994 and the early 2000s in Getafe. According to the victim, who sent the complaint by mail to the Vatican this summer, the abuse allegedly lasted for nearly seven years, from the age of 14 to 21. At that time, Zornoza—now 76 years old—was the director of the seminary in the Diocese of Getafe. In 2005, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Zornoza as auxiliary bishop of Getafe. Years later, in 2011, he was appointed Bishop of Cádiz and Ceuta.
